STATUS: Completed February 1, 2022. First Draft (shorter version) completed December 2022. NOTES: This is something my friend Joe Lane created 50 or so years ago. Looks like my handwriting, but Joe is credited as author. Originally just a chorus and there were no chords shown. I guess we were saving the rest for a later day. This song utilizes two keys, Key of G (verse) and Key of D (chorus). The verse allows "spoken" lyrics to migrate into Key of G. The chorus provides a strum of the D chord to provide the pitch to the new key. I wanted the "brighter" key of D for the banana plantation chorus. It appears John Keskinin has written a song with the same name. But it's a much different song. See: https://www.reverbnation.com/johnkeskinen/ AUDIO RECORDINGS: No fancy equipment or editing. These recordings are chock-full of mistakes in singing, lyrics and guitar playing. They aren't meant for the top 40 list. But they should give someone an idea of how I intended the song to sound. I will continue trying to get the "perfect" recording, but don't hold your breath too long waiting.
